I must start with a thank you, or indeed two thankyous. Firstly thank you, old magazine team. You have been so supportive to us over many years – perhaps we did not realise how much we would miss you until July when we have been without a magazine. I am so sorry to hear of Val’s death and send our sympathy to her family. Lindsay’s garden was duly open in June and looked wonderful. I have never seen such huge poppies! Her garden really was looking at its very best and I’m glad so many people took the opportunity to see it, and enjoy the delicious tea and cakes. I hope the Marie Curie terminal care nurses will have done well from it.
As I write we are enjoying summer at its best. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and it’s very warm. True, things are drying up and we are having to do lots of watering but that’s a small price to pay. The churchyard has lots of flowers and is looking a picture.
