Message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents,

Only two weeks to go! Next week Year 6 spend the week at The Kings, getting to know the site and the routines. They have the chance to meet the new tutor groups and make new friends from the other primary schools. I know that week seems strange for us as the familiar faces are missed throughout the week. The focus on their return will be the leavers’ service on Thursday 23rd July at 9.15 am. Please come along as it is our last time to say a proper goodbye. We will also be presenting the trophies for the year to the other children in the school too. It’s always emotional so bring your hankies.

This week Mrs Edge carried out home visits for our new reception class. It is an important part of their induction and transition.

We had a small change in menu yesterday called Teddy bears picnic. The children really enjoyed it as they all had their lunches outside like a picnic. The new menus for September will be sent home soon.

I hope you received your reports on Wednesday? Thank you for the great feedback. If you have any issues with the reports please come along to parents evening on Monday.

This week the chlorine seemed a bit strange at the pool but we have discussed this with Rob Leach and just to confirm that there wasn’t any changes or problems noted this week. The pool is checked every day and independently checked every couple of weeks.

Over the last two weeks we have welcomed a couple of schools who have visited for advice and guidance on becoming an outstanding Church school. It has been a pleasure showing our school and letting the children take the tours. Both schools have been so impressed with the children and just how amazing they are.

Just a small reminder that if you use the breakfast club and your child is having breakfast, please can you have your children there for closer to 8am as the children use the staffroom and it is needed for 8.30am staff meetings. Mrs Foulds is finding she is running out of time to ensure the children get to eat breakfast comfortably.

I am just about to confirm details regarding an after school club. Please can I ask you to sign up in the office if you are interested in after school care from 3.30 to 5pm Monday to Wednesday. We may look to extend to Thursday and Friday if we have enough interest. Club night will continue to run on Thursday so it may just leave Friday nights without any offer. If we have enough for September I will confirm arrangements next week.

Have a lovely weekend.

With regards,

Mrs Hammett
